Her love of animals, the oceans and Mother Nature as a whole, inspires Loretta to create a variety of acrylic paintings on canvas.
Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, she was very fortunate, 40 plus years ago, to make Campbell River her home, where she raised two children and is now blessed with three grandsons.
Her father was an artist and as a child she would watch him do oil paintings of landscapes and wildlife. But at a young age, and having the attention span of a gerbil, never gave any thoughts of trying it herself.
Well, Dad passed many years ago, so maybe it was divine intervention that prompted her, out of the blue, in September 2012 to try her hand at painting a picture she was very fond of. She caught the bug and is now enjoying every moment of how it feels to look at a completed painting and pleasantly surprise herself, family, and friends.
Being on a learning curve, she entered for the first time the River City Art Festival in the summer of 2013 and was fortunately enough to be awarded Best Nautical Painting, and also Artist Choice Award for "Rugged Mountain in Tahsis, B.C."
Loretta is a member of the Campbell River Community Arts Council and was featured in their January 2014 Newsletter.
Private commissions are welcome and can be completed from photographs or in person. She can be contacted at [email protected] or call her at 250-830-8484
